Westsound Bank customers should be aware of a new wave of scams that try to obtain personal information from consumers, which can lead to identity theft and other crimes. Authorities in neighboring areas have reported a recent ‘Telephone Phishing’ scam in which cardholders are warned that their debit card has been suspended due to suspicious activity, at which time they are asked to provide their debit card number, PIN number and expiration date. Consumers should be wary of any phone call or e-mail request asking that they reveal debit card or other sensitive information. Westsound Bank will never call and ask clients for this information.
